There are more kinds of natural mica, and two kinds of muscovite and mica are used as electrical insulating materials. The Muscovite has glassy gloss and is usually colorless and transparent; gold mica has metallic lustre and semi metallic luster. It is usually golden yellow, brown, light green and so on, and is less transparent. Muscovite and mica have good electrical and mechanical properties, good heat resistance, chemical stability and corona resistance. Two kinds of mica can be peeled into soft and elastic sheets with thickness ranging from 0.01 to 0.03 millimeters. The electrical properties of Muscovite are better than those of mica, but the Muscovite is soft and its heat resistance is better than that of muscovite.
